National law firm Eckert Seamans has added Philadelphia-based Cynthia L. Brennan as a Member of the firm’s Professional Liability practice. Brennan joins Eckert Seamans from Rawle & Henderson, LLP, rejoining colleague Elaine Ross, who the firm also welcomed in Philadelphia last week.

Brennan advises medical professionals, lawyers, accountants, insurance brokers, and real estate agents on professional liability matters, including complex medical malpractice and mass tort defense litigation. She has experience advising on several well-known drug and medical device litigation matters, as well as serving as counsel in bankruptcy reorganizations. Additionally, Brennan provides pro bono assistance to migrant children involved in the Central American immigration crisis, among many other community involvements. She holds a J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, an MBA from Point Park University, and a B.A. from Moravian College.

Donald Brooks, Chair of Eckert Seamans’ Professional Liability practice, commented: “Cynthia and Elaine are well known to us and add strength and depth to our medical malpractice defense team. Medical malpractice litigation is extremely active, with increased trial listings throughout the region and a ramp up in new suits filed since the recent change in venue rule. We are happy to add Cynthia and Elaine and believe that a deep roster allows us to best serve our clients with experienced representation.”

Eckert Seamans’ Philadelphia office has seen a period of growth since the beginning of 2023 with the arrival of a number of new attorneys, including professional liability Member Elaine Ross, cybersecurity Senior Attorney Elizabeth Wilson, and intellectual property Associate Josh Boyle. The office was also recently recognized as one of the top-30 largest law firms in the region by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

“We are excited to welcome Cynthia to the firm and are pleased that she will be continuing to work closely with Elaine,” said Marc Stein, Member-In-Charge of Eckert Seamans’ Philadelphia office. “Cynthia is an accomplished litigator and her experience further strengthens our professional liability practice, as well as our capabilities in Philadelphia.”
