Eckert Seamans Bolsters Philadelphia Office with Arrival of Commercial Litigation Partner Jonathan Hugg

Jonathan W. Hugg has joined national law firm Eckert Seamans as a Member in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group. He joins Eckert Seamans’ Philadelphia office from Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, where he was co-chair of the firm’s financial services litigation group.

Hugg focuses his practice on commercial and appellate litigation, with an emphasis on financial institution, real estate, regulatory enforcement, and municipal matters. He has nearly 30 years of experience prosecuting, defending, and resolving contractual disputes and business torts in Pennsylvania and across the Northeast U.S. Hugg is a seasoned litigator and business counselor, representing clients in cases involving commercial loan work-outs and lender liability; fraudulent transfers; privacy and bank secrecy; disputes arising under the Uniform Commercial Code; fiduciary matters; bankruptcy trustees and adversary matters; loan participation agreements; and check fraud and warranties. 

Hugg also previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Appeals Unit of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted more than 130 matters, both as appellee and appellant, before the Pennsylvania Supreme and Superior Courts. He earned a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.A. from Swarthmore College.
