Eckert Seamans Announces Multiple Practice Group Leadership Updates

Eckert Seamans is delighted to announce multiple changes to its Practice Group Leadership ranks across multiple offices effective July 1, 2022.

Laura B. Kurtz and Jonathan W. Cox, both based in our Harrisburg office, have been selected Co-Chairs of our Public Finance practice.  Laura Kurtz regularly serves as bond and note counsel in financings involving Pennsylvania counties, cities, townships, boroughs, school districts, and municipal authorities. Laura Kurtz also represents issuers, borrowers, underwriters, and financial institutions in various public and private financings. Jonathan Cox serves a broad range of clients in the public finance sector as bond counsel to school districts, counties, cities, boroughs, townships, municipal authorities, and industrial development authorities, as well as nonprofit corporations, such as continuing care retirement communities, colleges, hospitals, fire companies, and other community and economic development organizations.

Daniel N. Reisman, based in our Philadelphia office has been named Chair of our Real Estate practice. Over the course of Daniel Reisman’s career, he has developed a national practice representing buyers, sellers, developers, borrowers, lenders, landlords, tenants, and brokers in a variety of matters. His practice covers a wide range of asset classes, including multi-family housing, single-family residential, office, retail, hospitality, gaming, and industrial projects.

Matthew H. Meade, based in our Pittsburgh office has been appointed Chair of our Data Security & Privacy practice. Matthew Meade concentrates his practice in the area of data security providing advice to clients regarding data breaches, information and records management, and other areas concerning data security. Matthew Meade helps clients identify business risks associated with the use and storage of sensitive information. He regularly guides clients through security incident investigations, analysis, communications, and, if necessary, responding to regulatory inquiries and litigation. He advises clients on security breach notification laws and other U.S. state and federal data security requirements (including laws regarding disposal of records). Matthew Meade has served as a Co-Chair of the ABA’s First, Second, and Third Annual National Cybersecurity Institute (2016-2018).

As previously reported in April 2022, Marc Stein has assumed the leadership role of the firm’s Philadelphia office.  Marc Stein focuses his practice in public finance. He represents varied clients, including state agencies and authorities; borrowers, including corporate and 501(c)(3) entities; investment banks; municipalities and school districts; industrial development authorities; municipal authorities; corporate trustees; commercial lenders; and swap counterparties.

Additionally, Michael McAuliffe Miller now leads the firm’s Harrisburg office. Michael Miller concentrates his practice exclusively on management-side employment and labor law, including employment and labor-related litigation before a variety of state and federal courts. He has represented the Pennsylvania General Assembly, colleges and universities, statewide agencies, counties, and municipalities at all levels as well as private companies.
