Eckert Seamans Elects Member Colleen Shields to Board of Directors Through 2027

The Board of Directors of national law firm Eckert Seamans has elected Member Colleen D. Shields to serve on the firm’s Board through the 2027 term. Shields is based in the firm’s Wilmington, Delaware office, where she also serves as the office Member-In-Charge. The full Board of Directors consists of 24 members from across the firm’s offices and is led by Dorothy (Dot) Davis as Chair of the Board.

Shields is an experienced civil litigator with more than two decades of first chair jury trial experience. She focuses her practice on defending high-exposure, complex cases in the areas of professional negligence, products liability, premises liability, sexual abuse, and general commercial liability. She has represented physicians and individual health care providers in nearly every medical specialty and has tried numerous medical malpractice cases successfully to defense verdict. Additionally, Shields represents community hospitals and academic medical centers in matters involving individual claims as well as class action lawsuits.

Shields has served as the President and National Board Representative for the Delaware Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates; as a State Representative for Delaware for the Defense Research Institute; as a Board Member of the Defense Counsel of Delaware; and as a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers. She has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for three consecutive years in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Professional Malpractice Law – Defendants.
