Interests

Cynthia, with her daughter Maya, enjoy taking long drives to explore the countryside and particularly enjoy hiking to see waterfalls throughout eastern Pennsylvania.  Staying healthy is also a hobby and riding a bike is a passion.  She often rides through Valley Forge National Park and Mill Grove—the area where John James Audubon once lived.  Cynthia is also an avid birder and enjoys the challenge of bird identification.

Also, in her time away from her active practice, Cynthia trained to represent minor children immigrating to the United States from Central America seeking asylum.  Cynthia jumped at the chance to help these children as a result of observing the living conditions and horrific circumstances these children endured in their immigration journey. She has represented children as young as 8 years old in both state and immigration courts.  She assists them with obtaining green cards, work permits and other related documentation necessary to go to school and obtain local support.  Her work also opened her eyes to number of minor children that are orphaned in Central America which provided the impetus for her to adopt her daughter from Guatemala in 2007.

Cynthia is also on the Board of Directors for the Non-Profit “Nic’s Network of Giving” which raises money in support of suicide awareness and emotional support for anyone touched by suicide.  The non-profit was started in 2021 in honor of her niece Nicole Shearer Brennan.
