Eckert Seamans Promotes Three Attorneys to Member Ranks

National law firm Eckert Seamans has promoted three associates to member (partner), effective July 1, 2023. The newly elected members include David Meredith (Pittsburgh), Cody T. Murphey (Richmond), and Jessica L. Reno (Wilmington).

David Meredith is based in Eckert Seamans’ Pittsburgh office, where he focuses his practice on complex construction disputes, representing owners, contractors, subcontractors, and material and equipment suppliers, in numerous federal and state court lawsuits, arbitrations and mediations throughout the United States. He regularly handles matters involving delay, acceleration, loss of productivity, differing site conditions, defective work, default, termination, mechanics liens, and payment and performance bond claims. Meredith’s practice experience spans numerous industry sectors, including transportation infrastructure, water treatment facilities, chemical and industrial manufacturing facilities, and oil and gas.

Cody Murphey is based in the firm’s Richmond office, where he focuses on the representation of regulated and non-regulated utilities in various matters before the Virginia State Corporation Commission. His representation of utility companies, electric cooperatives, and other regulated entities includes regulatory proceedings involving rates, tariff revisions, and affiliate transactions. In his telecommunications practice, Murphey assists competitive local exchange carriers and interexchange carriers in certification with the Virginia State Corporation Commission. He also represents competitive service providers in obtaining licenses to provide competitive energy service in the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

Jessica Reno is based in the firm’s Wilmington office, where she concentrates her practice on general litigation, including products liability, professional negligence, employment discrimination, and complex commercial litigation matters. She also advises organizations on institutional liability matters involving sexual abuse allegations. Reno is involved in all areas of case management and phases of litigation, from inception through trial. She has handled matters and argued before state trial and federal courts in Delaware, including arguing many successful dispositive motions before the trial courts.
