PA DOH announces Safe Harbor temporary guidelines
June 27, 2016
In its continuing effort to implement a “high quality, efficient, and compliant medical marijuana program in Pennsylvania,” the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) announced temporary guidelines for the Safe Harbor provision of the its Medical Marijuana Program.
These Safe Harbor temporary guidelines allow for parents, legal guardians, caregivers or spouses to apply to obtain a “Safe Harbor Letter” to obtain medical marijuana to administer to minors who have a physician-documented serious medical condition. Once a Safe Harbor Letter is issued, parents, legal guardians, and others will be allowed to obtain medical marijuana from outside of Pennsylvania to administer to minor children.
By the end of this calendar year, the Pennsylvania Department of Health also intends to issue temporary regulations pertaining to growers/processors, dispensaries/laboratories, physicians, patients and caregivers, as well as certain research institutions.
