Eckert Seamans Continues Growth of Commercial Litigation Practice with Arrival of Boston Attorney Matthew Baker

April 7, 2025

National law firm Eckert Seamans has added Matthew J. Baker as an Associate in the Commercial Litigation practice group. He joins Eckert Seamans’ Boston office from Barnes & Thornburg LLP.

Baker represents clients in complex business and commercial litigation in state and federal courts, including class action and multidistrict litigation, related to the defense of Fortune 500 companies for the sale of medical devices, pharmaceutical drugs, and various consumer goods. Additionally, he has experience advising on litigation matters involving labor and employment, mass torts, banking, construction, and real estate. He holds a J.D. from New England Law and a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Baker’s arrival closely follows the earlier additions of Princeton-based Commercial Litigation Member Michael Posavetz to the firm last week and Associate Anthony D’Elia in late February.

Eckert Seamans’ Commercial Litigation practice advises on business disputes across a broad spectrum of local, regional, and national industry sectors, counseling clients on all stages of litigation, from pre-suit counseling and investigations through trials and appeals. The practice was nationally recognized by Best Law Firms® 2025 edition and ranked among leaders by the Chambers USA 2024 guide.
