Overview

Matt focuses his practice in the area of commercial litigation and is a seasoned litigator with a broad and diverse range of experience. Specializing in complex business and commercial disputes, he is committed to providing clients with strategic, cost-effective, and innovative solutions to problems. Matt represents clients in both state and federal courts, handling high-stakes matters, including class actions and multi district litigation. His notable experience includes defending Fortune 500 companies in cases involving the sale of medical devices, pharmaceutical drugs, and a wide array of consumer goods.

With a strong background in professional liability, Matt has also successfully represented clients in cases involving allegations of malpractice by licensed professionals, including attorneys, real estate agents and brokers, architects, and engineers. He has also managed complex construction litigation, dealing with issues such as construction defects, accidents, wrongful death, payment disputes, and OSHA investigations.

In addition, Matt has significant experience in employment law, including handling claims of discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower actions. He has defended corporations, business owners, and insurers in consumer protection cases, including allegations of unfair trade practices and violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

During law school, Matt also gained invaluable experience as a law clerk for one of the nation’s largest insurance providers, where he supported trial counsel in defending personal injury, homeowners, and subrogation claims. He also worked as a law clerk for an independent broker-dealer, assisting in the mediation and arbitration of consumer complaints, including matters before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Representative Matters

  • Set Massachusetts precedent by assisting with the preparation of successful summary judgment motion that established the stand of care for retailer defendants involved in talc/asbestos litigation.
  • Represented nationally chartered banks in trustee process actions, and 501(c)3 non-profit organizations in commercial disputes, including cases implicating civil RICO claims.
  • Assisted with the preparation and trial support of a significant political based Whistleblower case, which resulted in a defense verdict following a 3-week Superior Court jury trial.
