Overview

Shonti Tager represents individuals, corporate, and municipal clients in a wide range of transactional matters regarding the sale and acquisition of real estate, obtaining local and state permitting and approval for new construction and redevelopment, and navigating regulatory and tax compliance for residential and commercial projects. Shonti practices law in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania and has experience and familiarity working with municipalities throughout the Delaware Valley region. In addition to his transactional work, Shonti has experience in both trial and appellate courts representing private property owners and municipalities in disputes over the disposition and use of real estate, including land use appeals, adverse possession matters, landlord-tenant disputes, and partition actions.

Prior to joining private practice, Shonti worked in the New Jersey Superior Court’s Appellate Division where he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Thomas W. Sumners, Jr.

Shonti is a graduate of Southern Oregon University and Rutgers Law School. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Shonti worked as a television news reporter and anchor for KOTA-TV in Rapid City, South Dakota and WGXA-TV in Macon, Georgia, where he covered local and state politics, crime and the courts. He also worked as a writer and producer for WSVN and WTVJ in Miami, Florida, and volunteered his time working as an investigative intern at the Office of the Public Defender in Palm Beach County, Florida, and served as a substitute school teacher for the Palm Beach County School District.

Shonti is an avid outdoorsman and conservationist and enjoys exploring wilderness areas particularly in the Appalachian Mountains and the Pacific Northwest.  A former college football player, Shonti still tries to remain active in competitive sports, and has adopted a rooting interest in Philadelphia professional sports teams, Rutgers, and Penn State, while staying loyal to his hometown University of Oregon Ducks.
