Overview

Maya Cheriyan focuses her practice on intellectual property matters, including preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications in the electrical and electromechanical arts.  Maya regularly files and prosecutes patent applications in the United States and prepares prosecution filings for applications pending in Europe, Asia, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and Australia.  Her practice also includes counseling clients with respect to infringement and validity issues, and assisting with the representation of clients in patent infringement litigation arising from patentability and licensing disputes.

Maya assists clients in matters covering a wide variety of technologies including electrical power distribution and protection equipment, respiratory therapy devices, semiconductor memory devices, machine learning applications, and cloud computing applications.  She enjoys working with all types of clients, from corporate research and development engineers to university students to small business owners.

Prior to joining Eckert Seamans, Maya was in-house counsel for a leading solar developer in Massachusetts.
