Donna Y. Kramer

Overview

Donna Kramer’s practice focuses on the defense of physicians, nurses, hospitals, health systems, and other healthcare providers in litigation involving alleged malpractice and/or negligence. Her cases involve complex medical fact patterns, minor to catastrophic injuries, and often substantial financial exposure.

Donna represents clients at trial, mediation, and arbitration, and has successfully defended clients against claims involving alleged surgical negligence and misdiagnosis/failure to diagnose, among others. In addition, she provides risk management guidance and consultation services to chief executive officers, chief medical officers, and general counsel.

Prior to joining private practice, Donna served as a law clerk for the Honorable Francine Lubow of the Queens County Family Court. 

Representative Matters

• Leading all aspects of case litigation, including pre-litigation review, developing and executing litigation and trial strategies and arbitrating and trying cases on behalf of insured defendants.
• Advising CEOs, CMOs, general counsel, and risk managers on effective risk management strategies and related matters such as: risk prevention, patient safety, and HIPAA compliance.
• Preparing and defending physicians, nurses, and corporate designees of healthcare facilities in depositions while representing hospitals, insurance companies, and health systems in the greater Philadelphia area.
• Supervising and mentoring junior attorneys.
• Conducting in-service lectures to clients and their staff, including presentation of seminars to medical staff and other healthcare providers
• Drafting policies and procedures for incorporation into surgery center manuals.
• Reviewing medical records requests and subpoenas on behalf of health system.
