Overview

Denny McEwen has more than 20 years of nationwide experience defending and managing asbestos, mass tort, and product liability litigation brought against major U.S. corporations. As co-chair of the firm’s Mass Tort Litigation Group, he oversees the firm’s digital-case management system, Litigation Management OnlineSM, which supports a national network of lawyers and other professionals led by Eckert Seamans in its defense of mass tort litigation.

Denny has practical, real-life experience working closely with clients on the development of defenses, trial and settlement strategy, case processing and management on a national scale, budget development, and performance measurement. He has served as local, regional, and national counsel for two domestic automobile manufacturers and a major manufacturer of power generation, propulsion, and electrical transmission equipment.

Denny was a member of the firm’s Board of Directors from 2007-2011.

Representative Matters

  • Served as local, regional, and national counsel for an international power generation and electrical equipment company and is currently engaged in the national coordination of mass tort claims for that company’s successor, including the administration of the firm’s digital case management system, Litigation Management OnlineSM.
  • Served as regional and specialty area counsel for the top two domestic automakers in asbestos litigation and was responsible in those roles for advising the companies on the formulation and implementation of national strategy, the selection and development of witnesses and consultants, and the management of local counsel.
  • Guided a number of corporations in the creation of and compliance with Medicare Secondary Payer Act Section 111 reporting processes relating to personal injury liability settlements.
  • Represented a chemical manufacturer defendant at trial and before the appellate courts in the case that established the Sophisticated User Defense in Maryland.
  • Defended an international chemical manufacturer against chemical exposure claims filed in several states.
