Philanthropist and Eckert Seamans Member Celebrates 35 Years as Volunteer and Donor

Mark Reardon, Member and Board of Directors of national law firm Eckert Seamans’ Wilmington, Del. office, was honored today by the Association of Fundraising Professionals at the DuPont Country Club with the 2022 Philanthropy Award. He was recognized during a breakfast reception in observance of National Philanthropy Day for his volunteer work and leadership as Board Member in the Ministry of Caring (MOC).

For more than 35 years, Reardon has supported programs that serve the poor and homeless through his giving and sponsoring fundraising events. He has also provided free legal advice and counseling on local matters as well as partnered with government officials to advance the Ministry’s mission. He said his major passion is advocacy, championing the cause of the Ministry of Caring in the communities in which he serves. The ministry began in 1977 with the first shelter for homeless women on the Delmarva Peninsula. Today, the efforts have grown into many programs in and near Wilmington, providing support and needs for those with food insecurities, homelessness, unemployed, and overall poverty that disproportionately affects residents of color, especially children and seniors.

“Eckert Seamans is proud to recognize Mark on this remarkable accomplishment,” said Timothy Hudak, Chief Executive Officer. “It is important to step back from the volume of our caseloads and see others through a personal lens.”

As highlighted by the Ministry of Caring, Mark Reardon began volunteering at the Emmanuel Dining Room (EDR) in January 1985, and shortly after that in 1988, as a young lawyer, he began volunteering to provide legal advice. Mark joined the MOC Board of Directors in 2002 and continues to serve today. He has served for seven terms, more than 20 years. Mark has been President of the Board for two terms, Vice-President, and Treasurer and is currently serving again as Vice-President. He is also Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Village of St. John, a Ministry of Carings community for low-income seniors. His leadership and service are unparalleled as acknowledged by his fellow Board members.

Eckert Seamans is honored to congratulate Mark Reardon on this significant achievement and continue to support his tireless efforts advocating for not only his clients, but the most vulnerable in the Wilmington, Delaware community.
