Eckert Seamans Welcomes Sarah James

Eckert Seamans is pleased to welcome Sarah A. James to the firm’s Washington, DC office. She is an experienced commercial litigator who represents clients in coverage disputes, complex personal injury cases, construction defect cases, contract disputes, real estate and title disputes, and EEOC matters. James regularly assists clients in complex commercial and civil litigation disputes as well as high-stakes mediations.

Before joining private practice, James served as a judicial law clerk for the Rhode Island Trial Court and the Honorable Howard P. Speicher, Associate Justice in the Massachusetts Land Court. She researched and drafted written decisions on administrative appeals and civil bench trials. James also was a volunteer attorney for the ACLU of Rhode Island, representing clients on matters involving civil rights violations. During law school, James was a paralegal at a complex civil litigation firm focusing on real estate and land use litigation, corporate business litigation, and contract disputes.

Active in the community, James is a volunteer for the D.C. Volunteer Lawyers Project and Lucky Dog Animal Rescue.

James joins Eckert Seamans from Carr Maloney PC and is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. She earned her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School (2016). She served as the Journal of Health & Biomedical Law Notes Editor. James earned her undergraduate degree from Endicott College (2011).
