Overview

Sarah James is an experienced commercial litigator.  She has represented clients in coverage disputes, complex personal injury cases, construction defect cases, contract disputes, real estate and title disputes, and EEOC matters.  Sarah has experience representing clients in complex civil litigation matters in D.C., Maryland, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island Courts. Sarah regularly assists clients in complex commercial and civil litigation disputes and has represented clients through numerous high stakes mediations. 

Prior to joining private practice, Sarah served as a judicial law clerk for the Rhode Island Trial Court and for the Honorable Howard P. Speicher, Associate Justice in the Massachusetts Land Court, where she conducted research and drafted written decisions on administrative appeals and civil bench trials. She was a volunteer attorney for the ACLU of Rhode Island where she represented clients on matters involving civil rights violations and is also a volunteer for the D.C. Volunteer Lawyers Project.

During law school, Sarah was a paralegal at a complex civil litigation firm focusing on real estate and land use litigation, corporate business litigation, and contract disputes. 

Representative Matters

  • Represented an engineering and consulting services firm in multiple related lawsuits involving construction defect, wrongful death and survivorship claims.  Obtained favorable settlement for client.
  • Represented a property management company, its employees, and a unit owner in breach of contract suit and obtained favorable settlement for client.

Interests

Sarah enjoys hiking in Virginia and Maryland with her dog, Cody.  In her spare time, she is an ice skating coach and the assistant coach to a competitive ice skating team in Maryland.  She also enjoys traveling and attending baseball games when the Red Sox are in town.
