Eckert Seamans Secures Appeals Court Victory for A/F Protein Inc.

April 25, 2023

A Boston-based team of attorneys from national law firm Eckert Seamans recently secured a victory in the Connecticut Appellate Court for client A/F Protein Inc. The Eckert Seamans team included Associate Trevin Schmidt and Member Gabriel Dym.

Eckert Seamans was retained by A/F Protein, Inc., a biotechnology company, shortly after the company was awarded money damages at arbitration in Connecticut. The Eckert Seamans team defended the arbitration award in Connecticut state court after the opposing party to the arbitration filed an application to vacate the award based on numerous legal theories. After a full briefing of the issues, as well as oral argument, the trial court ruled in A/F Protein’s favor, upholding the award in full. Shortly thereafter, the opposing party appealed to the Connecticut Appellate Court. After the submission of appellate briefs and oral argument, the Connecticut Appellate Court, in a reported decision, affirmed the judgment of the trial court, finding no basis to vacate the arbitration award. The decision can be found at ARVYS Protein, Inc. v. A/F Protein, Inc., 219 Conn. App. 20 (2023).
