Eckert Seamans Member Jacqueline Welch Appointed Vice Chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Public Law Section Council

Jacqueline A. Welch, a Boston-based Member with national law firm Eckert Seamans has been appointed Vice Chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s (MBA) Public Law Section Council for the 2023-2024 year. The Council serves as a forum for discussion and education concerning practice as a government lawyer or as a private attorney representing, dealing with, or practicing before government agencies.

Welch’s appointment is the result of a strong commitment to the MBA and the legal profession. She also recently co-presented a featured MBA Public Law Section Council CLE program on “Current Issues with Requests for Police Body-Worn Camera Videos and the Massachusetts Public Records Law.” She has over 25 years of complex commercial litigation experience. She concentrates her practice on business and corporate litigation, corporate and government investigations, securities and financial services litigation, and employment, education, cyber security, professional negligence, and real estate issues and disputes. She has tried more than 60 jury and bench trials.

Welch served for over five years as an Assistant Attorney General with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office prosecuting unfair and deceptive business practice cases involving financial fraud, banking, corporate, real estate, advertising, and non-profit organizations. She previously served as Amicus Curiae Committee Liaison to the MBA’s Public Law Council and is a Women’s Bar Association Women in the Courtroom committee member and Senior Practice Group committee member. She has also served in various roles in local government, including as a Select Board Member and Planning Board Chair.
