John R. “Jack” McGinley, Jr., an Eckert Seamans Pittsburgh-based Member, has been recognized with a 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award from The Legal Intelligencer. As part of the publication’s Professional Excellence Awards, the Lifetime Achievement accolade honors attorneys from all corners of the legal profession who have left an imprint on the legal history of Pennsylvania during their career.

“Jack is an outstanding attorney, colleague, and leader,” said Timothy Q. Hudak, Chief Executive Officer of Eckert Seamans. “I can think of few attorneys as deserving of a lifetime achievement award as Jack, and our firm is extremely grateful for his contributions over the years. We look forward to his continued guidance and impact at Eckert Seamans.”

McGinley is a trial attorney with more than 45 years of experience concentrating his practice on corporate, business, real estate, and professional liability matters. He previously served as Chair of Eckert Seamans’ Board of Directors. Additionally, McGinley has served in the public sector as an assistant district attorney of Allegheny County, and co-founded Grogan, Graffam, McGinley & Lucchino, P.C. before joining Eckert Seamans in 2002.

McGinley currently serves as chair of Duquesne University’s board of directors; an emeritus trustee at St. Bonaventure University, where he also previously chaired the board of trustees; chair of the Rita McGinley Foundation; and chair of The Pittsburgh Foundation. He is also the former board chair of Pittsburgh Mercy Hospital; former chair of the Independent Regulatory Review Commission of Pennsylvania for nearly 20 years; and served on the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania for six years. Other accolades for McGinley include being honored with the 2022 Coleman Award for Excellence in Community Service by The University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics; inducted into Duquesne University’s Century Club of Distinguished Alumni; and inducted into Central Catholic High School’s Hall of Fame, among many others. He is also a recipient of The Professionalism Award from the Civil Division of the Allegheny County Bar Association and a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

McGinley, along with the other Professional Excellence honorees, will be recognized at an Awards dinner in Philadelphia in June.
