October 25, 2024

National law firm Eckert Seamans is pleased to announce that four lawyers have been named to the New York—Metro Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists, respectively. Members David Katzenstein, Steven R. Kramer, and Morgan R. McCord were selected to the Super Lawyers list, while Associate Janika Best earned Rising Stars honors for the first time.

The Super Lawyers designation is awarded to no more than five percent of attorneys in the state, with Rising Stars recognition limited to just 2.5 percent. Recipients are chosen through Thomson Reuters’ rigorous multiphase selection process, which combines peer nominations, independent research evaluation, and in-depth peer reviews across more than 70 practice areas.

David Katzenstein, Member-in-Charge of the Newark office, is a litigator with 35+ years of experience in the defense of personal injury and commercial cases in New Jersey and New York, during which he has tried many cases to verdict. Recently appointed by an Administrative Justice of the Supreme Court of New York to train judges assigned to handle asbestos trials, he has substantial expertise in fiber type, low dose, state-of-the-art, and epidemiology-based defenses of asbestos cases.

Steven Kramer, Member-in-Charge of the White Plains office, acts as regional and national trial counsel for Fortune 100 companies in class action, multidistrict, and single-party litigation. He focuses on product liability, food-borne illness, pollution and toxic tort, and commercial litigation and has tried cases in numerous state and federal courts.

Morgan McCord focuses his practice on banking, financial services, consumer and commercial collections, and bankruptcy litigation. He represents banks, loan servicers, and other financial institutions through all phases of litigation involving diverse claims. These claims typically involve lender liability, title issues, contested foreclosures, stolen and forged negotiable instruments, fraudulent or unauthorized account transactions, electronic transactions, identity theft, cashier’s checks, and other retail and wholesale banking transactions.

Janika Best is a member of the firm’s Mass Tort Litigation team, and also serves on Eckert Seamans’ Pro-Bono Committee. She advises on matters involving catastrophic loss, product liability, premises liability, real estate, and Title IX litigation. She also has experience assisting senior attorneys on all stages of complex commercial litigation, from initial assessment to trial preparation, including conducting research, drafting and responding to discovery requests, drafting motions and briefs, and preparing for trial.
