Pennsylvania State Clean Diesel Grants

March 3, 2015

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (“DEP”) is currently accepting applications for Pennsylvania State Clean Diesel Grants.  The grant program is funded through an annual allocation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s State Clean Diesel Program.  The goal of the grant program is to improve Pennsylvania’s air quality by decreasing emissions from diesel-powered engines.  Eligible applicants include businesses, incorporated nonprofits, school districts, municipal authorities and other state agencies.  Eligible diesel emission reduction solutions include, but are not limited to: verified emission control technologies such as exhaust controls, cleaner fuels, and engine upgrades; verified idle reduction technologies; certified engine repowers; and/or certified vehicle or equipment replacement.  Eligible vehicles, engines and equipment includes buses, medium or heavy-duty trucks, and equipment or vehicles used in construction, mining or energy production (excluding stationary generators and pumps).

There is $106,022 available from DEP for this round of funding.  Cost sharing obligations are dependent on the technology utilized.  Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2015.  Projects are to be completed by September 30, 2015, although DEP may grant extensions.
