New CHP Technical Assistance Partnerships Launched
December 4, 2013
On October 21, 2013, the U.S. Department of Energy launched seven new regional Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Technical Assistance Partnerships (TAP) to help strengthen U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, lower energy consumption and reduce harmful emissions.
Each of the CHP TAPs offer best practices for CHP project financing, management and state policies, market analysis tools and resources, and technical site evaluations.
• Mid-Atlantic CHP TAP covers the District of Columbia and the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
• Mid West CHP TAP covers the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
• Northeast CHP TAP covers the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
• Northwest CHP TAP covers the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska.
• Pacific CHP TAP covers the states of California, Hawaii, and Nevada.
• Southeast CHP TAP covers the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
• Southwest CHP TAP covers the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Texas, and Oklahoma.
The CHP TAPs, formerly called the Clean Energy Application Centers (CEACs) are currently offering technical assistance to the more than 550 major source facilities impacted by the Boiler MACT regulation. CHP can provide many benefits compared to separate heat and power production, such as increased energy efficiency, operating cost savings, and reduced air pollution.
