FAA PROPOSES NEW OVERFLIGHT FEES

October 5, 2015

Operators of aircraft that transit U.S. airspace without taking off or landing in the United States must pay overflight charges based on their individual operations. The FAA recently proposed an increase in overflight charges, as the relevant rates were last set in 2011. Specifically, the FAA is proposing an across-the-board increase of 9% for all overflight fees, beginning in October 2017. A copy of the notice of proposed rulemaking can be found here.  Comments on the proposal are due on or before October 27, 2015.
