Eckert Seamans welcomes Geraldine A. Cheverko to White Plains office

cheverko_geraldineEckert Seamans is pleased to welcome Geraldine A. Cheverko as a member (partner) of its White Plains office and Financial Services Litigation practice. She advises and represents banks, subsidiaries, servicers, and investors in contested residential mortgage foreclosures, quiet title, and predatory lending actions. Her commercial litigation practice also includes the areas of complex commercial litigation, lender liability, products liability, toxic torts, general liability, and class actions.

Cheverko has successfully litigated numerous matters in Connecticut and New York state and federal appellate courts. In addition, she has experience in defending actions in both state and federal courts based on alleged violations of Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and Truth in Lending Act. She also has experience in identifying and analyzing title defects, drafting curative documents, and litigating title issues.

In addition to her litigation experience, Cheverko has counseled nationwide financial institutions and services on risks avoidance with respect to litigated matters. She has also handled mediations and arbitrations for clients.

Cheverko earned her J.D., cum laude, from the Pace University Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Pace Law Review. She earned her B.B.A., summa cum laude, from Pace University in 1986. Following law school, Cheverko served as a law clerk to Hon. Joan Glazer Margolis, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of Connecticut. She is a member of the Federal Bar Council.
