Eckert Seamans’ Renée Martin-Nagle Appointed to International Water Resources Congress

Also named an expert reviewer by UN Panel on Climate Change

Renée Martin-Nagle, Special Counsel at Eckert Seamans, was recently appointed by the International Water Resources Association and the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources as the Co-Chair of the International Scientific Committee of the International Water Resources Association’s World Water Congress. The International Scientific Committee is responsible for planning and executing the Congress, which will feature speakers on water science and policy from around the world and will take place in Beijing in September 2023.

Additionally, the United Nations’ Panel on Climate Change named Martin-Nagle as an Expert Reviewer for the Draft Synthesis Report of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, which will be released later this year. In this role, she will review and comment on how water resources, especially groundwater, will be affected by climate change.

Martin-Nagle focuses her practice on the firm’s nationally-recognized aviation practice and its environmental law practice. In addition to working with Eckert Seamans, she has served as CEO and President of A Ripple Effect plc, a consultancy focused on international water law and integrated water resources management services. She earned a PhD in Law with a focus on global groundwater governance at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, and has taught international environmental law and policy at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. the University of Strathclyde, and Saint Francis University.  Prior to beginning her focus on the water sector, Martin-Nagle worked for more than 20 years at Airbus Americas, establishing its legal function and retiring in 2011 as Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Environmental Affairs, Corporate Secretary, and a member of the board of directors.
