CEO Tim Ryan discusses 2016 relaunch of firm’s summer associate program

February 23, 2016

CEO Timothy P. Ryan recently spoke with a reporter from the Pittsburgh Business Times regarding an expected spike in the recruitment and hiring of new law school grads by law firms nationwide. The Feb. 17 article “New lawyers find strong job market” describes findings of a report by the National Association for Law Placement that said 95 percent of 2015 summer law associates received job offers — the highest percentage in 20 years.

In line with the national findings, Eckert Seamans is reinstating its summer associate program, which was eliminated in 2007.

“We’re re-entering in a measured way with two and expect to increase the program,” Ryan was quoted in the article. “We see some rationalization to first-year compensation in the marketplace and it makes sense for us to again make first-year hires. And we see the need, given our growth, for a larger number of younger associates.”
