“Timothy Ryan has doubled the size of Pittsburgh’s fourth-largest law firm since taking the helm nine years ago, all the more striking because Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott LLC had run into financial difficulties during the late 1990s. Ryan, whose practice centers on intellectual property and business tort disputes, brought a practical bent to governing the firm, but he also has a tendency toward the offbeat: He represents the Rolling Stones when the band’s in town and until recently shared his office with a piranha.”
