Eckert Seamans Welcomes Anthony D. Cox, Jr.

Eckert Seamans is pleased to welcome Anthony D. Cox, Jr. to the firm’s Harrisburg, Pennsylvania office. He concentrates his practice on a wide variety of complex commercial and business litigation matters as well as professional liability and professional and occupational licensure defense matters before state and federal courts.

Cox is also experienced in defending professionals and entities before state and federal agencies, including, but not limited to, the Pennsylvania Department of State, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and United States Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights. His appellate experience includes handling matters on appeal before the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, Superior Court of Pennsylvania, and Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Before joining private practice, Cox was a litigation attorney for the Pennsylvania Department of State’s Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs, handling matters before various state boards. While in law school, he served as a judicial intern with the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania as well as a student law clerk to President Judge Mary Hannah Leavitt of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.

Active in the profession, Cox is a member of the Board of Directors of the Dauphin County Bar Association (DCBA), as well as the DCBA’s Capital Area Managing Partners Diversity Initiative and Equal Professional Opportunity committees. For the Pennsylvania Bar Association, he serves as Co-Chair of the Minority Bar Committee and volunteers as the High School Mock Trial Competition Coordinator. Cox is the Third Circuit Representative of the Federal Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and a Board Member of the Widener Law Commonwealth Alumni Association.

In the community, he serves on the Board of Directors of the South Central Pennsylvania Sickle Cell Council and as the Zeta Theta Lambda Chapter President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Cox has been frequently recognized for his courtroom, professional, and community efforts, most recently being included among The National Black Lawyers – Top 40 Under 40 (in 2020 and 2021) and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Stars (2022). The Pennsylvania Bar Association has honored Cox with the 2021 Diversity and Inclusion Award, 2018 Minority Bar Committee Rising Stars Attorney Award and was selected for the 2020-2021 Bar Leadership Institute program.

Cox joins from Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania. He earned his J.D. from the Widener University Commonwealth Law School (2017) and an undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University (2014).
