Eckert Seamans welcomes Abby Onaghise to Washington office and Business Division

Eckert Seamans is pleased to welcome associate Abby Onaghise to the firm’s Washington, D.C., office and Business Division. She focuses her legal practice on corporate transactions relating to the hospitality industries. She represents hotels, hotel management companies, and multinational retail companies with a variety of contractual matters, including the negotiation and drafting of hotel management agreements, consulting services agreements, licensing and marketing agreements, and financing documents.
Prior to joining Eckert Seamans, Onaghise served as securities counsel for an international real estate/infrastructure development firm, where she helped her client navigate complex securities regulatory frameworks, including providing guidance on Form D filings, negotiating and drafting financing documents for private fundraising, and engagement contracts. Her experience also extends to serving on the Corporate Finance committee for the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), where she worked on driving policy initiatives of participating states, educating investors on annuity products, developing recommendations concerning small businesses, addressing issues relating to state franchise and business opportunity laws, monitoring peer-to-peer lending issues, and evaluating guidelines to ensure consistency with the Dodd-Frank and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Onaghise is also a former clerk at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and the Department of Justice.
Onaghise earned her J.D. with a certificate in securities law from Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America in 2014 and her B.S. from the University of Maryland. She holds an international Business and Trade Law certificate from Catholic University in association with Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland.
