Q&A

What led you to pursue a career in law?

I knew I wanted a career that would challenge me daily, allow me to continuously learn new things in a variety of disciplines, and require creative thinking and writing. It also helped that no one in my family was a lawyer, and I wanted to do something different. In college, I took a couple of law classes and was hooked.

What do you enjoy most about your practice?

I love the role of counselor. While winning a case or negotiating a favorable settlement is of course exciting and gratifying, being able to share the unique knowledge I have acquired over the years with clients or prospective clients to help them solve their problems is most fulfilling to me.

What’s your favorite place?

Having just returned from a trip to Southern California, I am tempted to say San Diego is my new favorite place. But despite the perfect 80-degree sunny weather with no rain or humidity, the Jersey Shore remains at the top of my list. I have many fond childhood memories of vacationing with family and friends there, and it continues to be a place where my extended family congregates regularly.

What do you do on the weekends?

A typical weekend these days revolves around our kids’ schedules and social calendars. We can always be found at some combination of soccer, baseball, and softball games, swim meets, and chess tournaments. When not running around, we love hanging out in Ocean City, exploring museums and parks, and spending time with our extended family.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Until middle school, I wanted to be an astronaut. Then I realized how many science courses would be involved in achieving that dream. To this day, though, I give my parents a hard time about sending my youngest brother (now also a lawyer) to Space Camp in Huntsville, but not me!

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

People may not know that prior to going to law school, I worked in marketing research and consulting. And growing up, I was an avid athlete, on high school teams for soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, track, and swimming, and settling on crew and swim in college.
