Peter Mlynek Bolsters Eckert Seamans’ Pharmaceutical Intellectual Property Practice in Philadelphia
The national law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC recently
announced that attorney Peter D. Mlynek, Ph.D., has joined the firm’s
Philadelphia office as a member, bolstering its growing Pharmaceutical
Intellectual Property practice.
Dr. Mlynek focuses his practice on the evaluation and patentability of
inventions and the preparation and prosecution of patent applications that
relate to the chemical arts, with a particular emphasis in the pharmaceutical
industry. He joined Eckert Seamans from the law firm of Synnestvedt &
Lechner, LLP. He has a broad range of experience in patent counsel and
prosecution in the pharmaceutical industry. Before pursuing his legal
career, Dr. Mlynek worked as a scientist in the chemicals industry.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of
California, Berkeley. He received both his master’s degree in business and
his doctorate in inorganic/organometallic chemistry from the University of
Wisconsin at Madison. He earned his law degree from Rutgers University
School of Law.

He is a frequent author on intellectual property issues, having written
articles that were published in peer-reviewed journals that include
Organometallics and the Journal of Cluster Science. He is
licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and before the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office. Dr. Mlynek is the past president of the Southern New
Jersey Section of the American Chemistry Society, and he is the founder and past
president of the Rutgers Intellectual Property Law Association of the Rutgers
University Law School.
