Eckert Seamans Adds Attorneys in Pittsburgh Office
The national law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC recently
announced that attorneys Gregory H. Teufel and Mariah L. Lewis
have joined the firm’s Pittsburgh office.
Gregory H. Teufel joins as a Member in the firm’s Litigation
Division. He focuses his practice on outside general counsel work and
commercial litigation, including breach of contract disputes, construction
litigation, employee benefits matters, employment disputes and product liability
claims. Mr. Teufel has trial experience in state and federal courts in
Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and has
also handled AAA arbitrations. His appellate experience includes arguing
before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Mr. Teufel earned his law degree,
cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 1994 and his
undergraduate degree in Computer Science, magna cum laude, from King’s
College in 1991. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and West
Virginia and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of
Appeals for the Third Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and
Southern Districts of West Virginia and the Western and Middle Districts of
Pennsylvania. He is a member of the
American, West Virginia and Allegheny County bar associations, as well as the
Pittsburgh Federalist Society. Active in the community, Mr. Teufel
regularly handles pro bono custody conciliation matters and also serves as chair
of the Legal Advisory Committee for Patient Advocates for Advanced Cancer
Treatments (“PAACT”). In addition, he writes a legal column for PAACT’s
quarterly newsletter. Mr. Teufel also has served as a board member, legal
adviser and volunteer for Rainbow Kitchen Community Services, an anti-hunger
charitable organization.
Mariah L. Lewis is an Associate in the firm's Litigation Division,
practicing in the Labor & Employment group. Ms. Lewis counsels
employers on day-to-day personnel matters and practices, such as drafting and
implementing employment policies and employee handbooks, administering family
and medical leave policies and compliance with state and federal minimum wage,
overtime and wage payment laws. She has also prepared executive-level
employment and severance agreements, including covenants not to compete and
confidentiality agreements, and prosecuted and defended related litigation in
both state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies. Prior
to entering private practice, Ms. Lewis served in the United States Steel
Corporation’s Labor Relations department, representing the corporation’s
interests in negotiations with the United Steelworkers union and throughout the
employee grievance procedure. She earned her undergraduate (cum
laude) and law degrees from Duquesne University in 2003 and 2006,
respectively. Ms. Lewis is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia and before the Supreme
Court of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of
Pennsylvania.
