Eckert Seamans Adds Attorneys in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Offices
The national law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today
announced that attorneys Richard E. Peirce, Sean P. McConnell, Veronica M.
Nelson and Daniel A. Glass have joined the Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. offices, respectively.
Eckert Seamans continues to expand it’s footprint in the Philadelphia area,
recently announcing the addition of Roberta Jacobs-Meadway, Jay K.
Meadway and Bernadine J. Munley as Members, who joined Eckert Seamans
from Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP.
Richard E. Peirce joins the Philadelphia office as a Member of the firm in
the Intellectual Property Department. Mr. Peirce’s practice focuses on
trademark, cybersquatting and unfair competition issues. In addition, he
has advised clients on various issues relating to doing business on the
internet, including domain name registration strategy for new products and
services, policing brand abuse and domain name registration scams, online
copyright infringement, and web site linking. Mr. Peirce has also
negotiated and drafted trademark licenses, domain name transfer agreements and
other internet related documents. He has litigated trademark and unfair
competition issues in the federal courts and before the Trademark Trial and
Appeal Board. Mr. Peirce has also handled domain name disputes under
ICANN’s Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy and under other domain
name dispute resolution polices. Mr. Peirce earned his law degree from the
Syracuse University School of Law, cum laude, in 2000 and his
undergraduate degree from Rowan University, cum laude, in
1997.
Sean P. McConnell joins the Philadelphia office as an Associate in the
Litigation Division. He focuses his practice primarily on intellectual
property matters, including trademark prosecution and domain name and
internet-related issues. Prior to joining private practice, Mr. McConnell
served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps as a Operational
Law Attorney and Strategic Planner. While serving with the 3rd Infantry
Division in Iraq, he earned the Bronze Star Medal
as one of the primary planners for the Iraqi Constitutional Referendum and Iraqi
National Elections held in 2005. Mr. McConnell coordinated with
representatives and planners from the Iraqi government, the United Nations, the
U.S. Embassy-Baghdad and U.S.
military leadership to help ensure that the 3.5 million citizens of Baghdad were afforded the
opportunity to vote. Mr. McConnell earned his law degree from the
University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2002 and his undergraduate degree from
Duquesne
University in 1998.
Veronica M. Nelson joins the Philadelphia office as an Associate in the
Litigation Division. She focuses her practice in the area of general civil
litigation, with an emphasis on product liability litigation. Ms. Nelson earned
her law degree from Howard University School of Law in 2005 and her
undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in 2001. She is admitted
to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and before the
U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Daniel A. Glass joins the Washington, D.C. office as an Associate in the Litigation
Division. He focuses his practice on civil litigation with particular
emphasis in products liability and commercial litigation. Mr. Glass has
developed experience in a broad range of civil matters including products
liability, construction litigation, insurance coverage, professional liability
matters, as well as commercial litigation including business torts and contract
disputes. Additionally, he has practiced in areas such as securities
litigation, white-collar crime, and franchise matters. He has represented
clients in various state and federal courts throughout the country and in
arbitrations and mediations. Mr. Glass earned his law degree from the
George Washington University Law School in
2003 and his undergraduate degree from Tulane University in 2000.
