Eckert Seamans' Pro Bono Work Recognized with Chancellor's Award from Philadelphia VIP and the Philadelphia Bar Association
The national law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today
announced that it is the recipient of the 2006/2007 Chancellor’s Award from
Philadelphia VIP and the Philadelphia Bar Association. The Chancellor’s
Award is given in recognition of the firm and its attorneys in helping
Philadelphia VIP provide pro bono legal service to more than 1,000
low-income clients.
“Eckert Seamans’ outstanding support of VIP places it among our most valuable
supporters,” wrote Sara Woods, Executive Director of Philadelphia VIP.
“The efforts these attorneys have made exemplify the best of what it means to be
a Philadelphia lawyer.”
The firm will receive its award at VIP’s Annual Award reception in the
Ceremonial Court Room of City Hall on Thursday, February 21, 2008.
“We are extremely proud of everyone at our firm for their commitment to the
community,” said Albert Bixler, Member-in-Charge of Eckert Seamans’
Philadelphia
office. “This award is a special recognition of the work of firm members
Hank Clinton and Steve Foxman. Both Hank and Steve have had
a deep commitment to pro bono work over the years and have certainly earned this
award.”
Over the past year, Eckert Seamans has received several pro bono
awards. Firm attorney Sarah L. Shannon received the Pennsylvania
Bar Association’s 2007 Pro Bono Award. The firm received the 2006
Law Firm Pro Bono Award from the Allegheny County Bar Association for its
part in the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership.
And firm paralegal Rachel Klink received the 2006 Paralegal Service Award
for her work on the Pro Bono Partnership.
