Two Leading IP Attorneys Join Eckert Seamans in Philadelphia
Roberta Jacobs-Meadway and Jay Meadway significantly bolster firm’s IP practice
The national law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today
announced that it has significantly bolstered its intellectual property practice
in Philadelphia
with the addition of Roberta Jacobs-Meadway and Jay K.
Meadway as members. Both attorneys will join the firm from
Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, where they have been partners in
that firm’s Litigation Department and Intellectual Property
Group.

Ms. Jacobs-Meadway’s practice focuses on trademarks, trade dress, and unfair
competition issues, and includes litigation in the federal courts and before the
Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She has served as mediator in numerous
trademark and copyright disputes.
She is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business
as “Leaders in Their Field” in the area of intellectual property. In the
publication, she was referred to as “the preeminent trademark attorney in
Pennsylvania.” In addition, she
was named by Law & Politics Magazine and Philadelphia Magazine
as among “The Top 50 Women Pennsylvania Super Lawyers” and is a Pennsylvania
Super Lawyer in the area of Intellectual Property Law for
2007.
Ms. Jacobs-Meadway received her bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College, and her law degree from Rutgers
University School of Law.
Mr. Meadway concentrates his practice on foreign trademark protection.
He has been involved in all aspects of trademark protection. He represents
companies and law firms in trademark matters in Europe, Japan and other
countries.
Prior to joining private practice, he served as an in-house trademark
attorney for Pfizer, Inc., with primary responsibility for the worldwide
portfolio of consumer products and trademarks. He is an active member of
the International Trademark Association and serves on several of its committees,
working to harmonize the intellectual property laws in ASEAN and APEC member
countries. He is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business
Lawyers as “Leaders in Their Field” in the area of intellectual
property.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and his law degree from The
George Washington University Law School.
