Fourteen Eckert Seamans Attorneys Named Pennsylvania Super Lawyers "Rising Stars"

The national law firm Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today announced that 14 of its attorneys have been named 2007 Pennsylvania Rising Stars by the publishers of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers and Law & Politics magazines.

Selection is determined through the independent research of Law & Politics magazine.  Attorneys chosen must be 40 years old or younger or have practiced law for 10 years or less.  Rising Stars are evaluated based on their professional achievements, as well as civic and pro bono activities.  The nominees are then divided according to their respective firm size and geographic location, and the top candidates in those categories are then named Rising Stars.  According to Law & Politics, only 2.5 percent of Pennsylvania attorneys are honored as “Rising Stars.”  The full Rising Stars list will be published in the December issue of Philadelphia Magazine and in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers - Rising Stars Edition.

“Having been chosen by peers as top attorneys in the Commonwealth is a great achievement and speaks to the quality of our attorneys at Eckert Seamans.  The recognition is well earned, and we congratulate them,” said Tim Ryan, Eckert Seamans’ Chief Executive Officer.

The areas of focus for the Eckert Seamans attorneys recognized as Rising Stars include a number of the firm's national practice groups such as Litigation, Bankruptcy & Restructuring, Public Finance, Employee Benefits and Intellectual Property.

In Pittsburgh, eight attorneys were named to the list:  Paula J. Allan, Grant E. Coffield, Kathryn A. English, Wendy West Feinstein, Livia F. Langton, Daniel B. McLane, Cornelius J. O’Brien and Daniel P. Orie.

In Philadelphia, four attorneys were selected:  Timothy J. Burke, Ronald S. Gellert, Melissa P. Gorsline and Dennis P. Ziemba

In Harrisburg, two attorneys were selected:  Scott R. Mehok and Edwin A.D. Schwartz.
