Eckert Seamans Attorney Appointed to the Executive Committee of A Better Chance
The national law firm Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today announced
that attorney Gary M. Schildhorn was recently named to serve on the
executive committee of the Board of Directors of A Better Chance (ABC) of Lower
Merion, Pennsylvania. Mr. Schildhorn and his wife also serve as host
parents for an ABC student.
A Better Chance is the preeminent national resource for recruiting,
identifying and developing leaders among young people who come from difficult
environments. Through a unique assessment model, ABC refers these
academically talented students to some of the nation’s finest independent and
public schools to be considered for placement and financial aid. Students
who are successfully placed in one of ABC’s 300-plus member schools become a
part of the signature College Preparatory Schools Program, and receive access to
expanded educational, leadership and housing opportunities.
In addition to his charitable work with A Better Chance, Mr. Schildhorn was
recently tapped to serve as a guest lecturer, speaking to undergraduate and MBA
students at the Villanova University School of Business about why businesses
fail.

Mr. Schildhorn is a Member in the firm’s Business Division. Prior to joining
Eckert Seamans, Mr. Schildhorn was a shareholder with the law firm of Adelman
Lavine Gold Schildhorn and Kleban, P.C. Mr. Schildhorn’s areas of practice
focus on corporate and business law, insolvency, reorganizations and business
bankruptcies, and his clients are involved in the health care, distribution,
employment services, multi unit franchises, manufacturing, finance and
transportation industries. He is a member of the Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. He served as President of the
Turnaround Management Association of Delaware Valley and chaired its Education
Committee. He is a Director of Westland Convalescence Center, Inc. and,
along with his wife, served as a co-chair of "Race for the Cure" sponsored by
the Philadelphia Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
He has been recognized by Philadelphia Magazine as a "Best Bankruptcy Lawyer,
Commercial Cases" and has also been selected for inclusion by Chambers USA in
America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for bankruptcy/restructuring. He
has been listed among Pennsylvania's Super Lawyers, and he holds an
AV® rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
