Eckert Seamans Attorney Named to Saint Vincent College Board of Directors
The national law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today
announced that attorney Timothy P. Ryan has been named to the
Board of Directors of Saint Vincent College.
Timothy P. Ryan is the Chief Executive Officer of Eckert Seamans and a
Member of the firm’s Litigation Division. He has a broad range of
experience in commercial, business and regulatory litigation, covering matters
such as patent, trademark, copyright infringement, licensing, franchising,
unfair competition, contracts, RICO, securities fraud and toxic exposure
issues. He has represented litigants in various state and federal courts
across the country and before state and federal administrative agencies.
Mr. Ryan is one of the attorneys who represented petitioners in the landmark
Markman case at trial and before the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court of
the United
States. The case involved the
constitutional right to jury trial of disputes involving the construction of
patent claim terms. Mr. Ryan has been recognized as one of
Pennsylvania’s Super Lawyers for
2004 & 2005 as selected by Law & Politics and published in Philadelphia
Magazine. Mr. Ryan is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property
litigation issues. He is the immediate past Chair of the Intellectual
Property Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He also is a
member of the Intellectual Property Advisory Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar
Institute. Mr. Ryan is a member of the American,
Pennsylvania and Allegheny County
Bar Associations, the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and the
American Intellectual Property Law Association. In addition to serving on
the Board of Directors of Saint Vincent College, Mr. Ryan also serves on the
boards of numerous other organizations, including the Metropolitan YMCA of
Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. He graduated, cum
laude, from Duquesne University School of Law, where he was a member of the
Duquesne Law Review, and graduated with highest honors from
Saint Vincent College
with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Ryan is
admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia and is
admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S.
Courts of Appeals for the Federal, Third and District of Columbia Circuits, and
the U.S. Claims Court. He resides in Upper St.
Clair, Pennsylvania.
