Amended Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct

City County Building – 9th Floor

This course has been approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board for 1.5 hours of Ethics Credit.

Registration Fee = $45.00

Course Description

By Order dated August 23, 2004, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania adopted extensive revisions to the Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct, which govern attorney conduct.  These revisions flow from the most recent revisions to the American Bar Association's Model Rules of Professional Conduct.  Pennsylvania's revised Rules of Professional Conduct take effect on January 1, 2005.  We will discuss significant revisions and some of the instances where the Pennsylvania Rules differ substantially from the American Bar Association's Model Rules.  In addition, we will discuss revised Rules 5.5 and 8.5, which already are in effect in Pennsylvania and address the multi-jurisdictional practice of law.  Finally, we will discuss Rule 1.18, which is under consideration (but not yet been adopted) and governs duties to prospective clients.
