Gregory A. Weingart is a Member of the firm, serving as Chairman of the Corporate practice group within the firm’s Business Division.
Mr. Weingart has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, having represented buyers and sellers in transactions of a wide variety of structures and sizes for nearly 20 years. In addition, he has a broad range of experience in various other corporate and securities matters, including restructurings, financings and public and private offerings of equity and debt securities. Mr. Weingart also provides general business counseling to many clients in such areas as the formation and administration of corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, joint ventures and other entities and the negotiation, review and drafting of a wide range of contracts, including employment and non-compete contracts, licensing agreements, distribution agreements and management agreements.
He has represented clients engaging in a wide range of business fields, including energy companies, hospitality companies, entertainment and media companies, proprietary education providers, professional sports teams, construction companies, lending institutions, manufacturers and retailers. This representation has included both privately- and publicly-held clients involved in complex domestic and international transactions.
Mr. Weingart has lectured on various corporate law topics. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, and as a member of the United Jewish Federation’s Agency Operations Committee. Mr. Weingart has also served as an advisor to several women-owned businesses through the PowerLink organization. Mr. Weingart currently serves on the firm’s Opinion Letter Committee and chaired the firm’s Hiring Committee for six years.
Mr. Weingart received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School (1987) and his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois (1984), where he graduated with highest honors and was awarded the Bronze Tablet, the highest recognition for academic excellence granted by the University of Illinois. He began his legal career as an associate with a large Chicago law firm and joined Eckert Seamans in 1989. He was a certified public accountant.
