Paul D. Steinman is a Member in the firm’s Litigation Division. Mr. Steinman’s practice concentrates on all areas of commercial litigation, as well as the defense of claims of chemical exposure in the workplace. Mr. Steinman’s recent trial experience includes a multi-million dollar jury award to the firm’s client in a breach of contract case. He also led a defense team which recently obtained summary judgment against a wave of cases in which plaintiffs brought suit under West Virginia’s “deliberate intent” statute, claiming a wide variety of serious injuries from various chemical exposures.
Prior to joining Eckert Seamans, Mr. Steinman gained experience both as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 company and in private practice. He served as counsel in federal and state court trials involving wrongful termination claims and the enforceability of restrictive covenants, arbitrated disputes involving withdrawal liability assessment challenges and commercial contract claims and, while serving as in-house counsel, managed significant commercial and products liability litigation. Mr. Steinman has spoken about such varied topics as the right of publicity and the implementation and enforcement of noncompete and nondisclosure agreements.
