Evelyn D. Sahr is a Member in the Business Division. Ms. Sahr represents foreign airlines before the U.S. Departments of Transportation, State, Justice, Homeland Security, the U.S. Customs Service and the Federal Aviation Administration and other federal and state agencies in regard to all aspects of airline service. Ms. Sahr’s representation includes, inter alia, obtaining licenses and other operational authorizations and permits for both passenger and cargo service, providing advice on such issues as foreign ownership requirements, fifth freedom rights, third country codesharing and open skies, preparing regulatory comments, handling safety, security, hazmat and advertising enforcement proceedings and consulting on tax, employment and other commercial matters relating to airlines.
Ms. Sahr has lectured frequently at professional conferences on such subjects as the effect of privacy laws on foreign airlines’ U.S. operations, codeshare liability and U.S. employment law requirements.
From 1985 to 1989, Ms. Sahr was a trial attorney with the Department of Justice’s Civil Division, where she specialized in tort and appellate litigation.
