Richard E. Peirce is a Member of the firm in the Intellectual Property Department. 

Mr. Peirce’s practice focuses on trademark, cybersquatting and unfair competition issues.  In addition, he has advised clients on various issues relating to doing business on the internet including domain name registration strategy for new products and services, policing brand abuse and domain name registration scams, online copyright infringement, and web site linking.  Mr. Peirce has also negotiated and drafted trademark licenses, domain name transfer agreements and other internet related documents.  

Mr. Peirce has litigated trademark and unfair competition issues in the federal courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.  He has also handled domain name disputes under ICANN’s Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy and under other domain name dispute resolution polices. 

Mr. Peirce has been recognized in the 2005, 2006 and 2008 editions of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers, where he was noted in 2005 as an “up and comer” and the “go-to guy” for Internet-related litigation issues.  Mr. Peirce has also been honored by Law & Politics Magazine and Philadelphia Magazine as a "Pennsylvania Rising Star Super Lawyer" in the area of Intellectual Property.

Mr. Peirce has written and lectured on various intellectual property issues.  Most recently, he has written articles on the basics of domain names, and issues related to domain name tasting and spying.  He recently lectured on web site linking issues for ACLEA (The Association for Continuing Legal Education), presented the “Domain Names 101: Registration and Surveillance” portion of the ALI-ABA Internet Law for the Practical Lawyer program, and spoke on strategies for domain name protection at the PBI Business Lawyers’ Institute. 

Mr. Peirce is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and New Jersey state bar associations, and is also a member of the ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law (including the Special Committee on Computer Gaming and the Special Committee on Online Trademark Issues).
