Peter D. Mlynek, Ph.D. is a member of the firm in the Intellectual Property Group. He focuses his practice on the evaluation and patentability of inventions and the preparation and prosecution of patent applications that relate to the chemical arts, with a particular emphasis in the pharmaceutical industry. Before pursuing his legal career. Dr. Mlynek worked as a scientist in the chemicals industry.Dr. Mlynek earned an undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley (B.S., 1987), where he conducted research in bio-inorganic chemistry. He earned advanced degrees in Finance, Investment and Banking (M.B.A., 1993) and inorganic/organometallic chemistry (Ph.D., 1996) from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and his law degree from Rutgers University (J.D., 2006).
A frequent author on intellectual property issues, Dr. Mlynek has authored articles that have been published in peer-reviewed journals including Organometallics and the Journal of Cluster Science. He has also authored numerous industry reports and presentations, and has received several corporate awards.
He is a past president of the Southern New Jersey Section of the American Chemistry Society and the founder and past president of the Rutgers Intellectual Property Law Association of the Rutgers University Law School.
Dr. Mlynek is fluent in Czech, his native language.
