Sean P. McConnell is an Associate of the firm in the Litigation Division. He focuses his practice primarily on intellectual property matters, including trademark prosecution and domain name and internet-related issues.Prior to joining private practice, Mr. McConnell served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps as a Operational Law Attorney and Strategic Planner. While serving with the 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq, Mr. McConnell earned the Bronze Star Medal as one of the primary planners for the Iraqi Constitutional Referendum and Iraqi National Elections held in 2005. He coordinated with representatives and planners from the Iraqi government (national, local and military leaders), the United Nations, the U.S. Embassy-Baghdad, and U.S. military leadership to help ensure that the 3.5 million citizens of Baghdad were afforded the opportunity to vote. In addition, Mr. McConnell served as the Chief of Government Development, advising military leadership on how U.S. and military law and regulations, international law, interim Iraqi laws would impact U.S. operations and the development of Baghdad's local government. Also during his time with the JAG Corps, he served as a criminal prosecutor and advisor for several Commanders and as a legal assistance attorney for soldiers, their family members and retirees in Fort Stewart, Georgia, advising them on aspects of estate planning, tax law, family law, consumer law, property law, landlord/tenant law, contract law and military administrative matters.
During his course of studies, Mr. McConnell served in the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General, where he was called upon to provide research and writing support to three state prosecutors on issues of U.S. and Pennsylvania criminal law, procedure and Pennsylvania evidence.
