Livia F. Langton is an Associate in the firm’s Litigation Division. Ms. Langton’s practice focuses on Product Liability, Toxic Torts and General Commercial Litigation. Ms. Langton’s work is highlighted by her involvement in high-profile, multi-state litigation of foodborne illness outbreaks involving Hepatitis A and Salmonella. She brings to her practice her prior experience in public health and epidemiology. Ms. Langton has also defended a wide range of consumer and commercial products, including power tools, industrial equipment and household appliances, on design defect, strict liability, negligence, breach of warranty, punitive damages and other claims.
Ms. Langton’s experience with general commercial litigation issues includes issues such as breach of contract, medical malpractice, securities fraud, personal injury and misappropriation of trade secrets. She has represented client interests in arbitrations and at trial. Ms. Langton has also served as the coordinator for a multi-state expert retention and trial readiness program for two national manufacturers.
Ms. Langton was recognized by Pennsylvania SuperLawyers in 2007 as a Rising Star.
A graduate of the Anne B. Anstine Excellence in Public Service program, Ms. Langton acts as counsel in the Elections Court. She served from 2005-2008, as the President of the Board for Christian Legal Aid of Pittsburgh Inc. Ms. Langton was elected President of the University of Pittsburgh Graduate and Professional Student Association from 2002-2003, and Treasurer and Representative to the Student Bar Association for the University of Pittsburgh School of Law from 2000-2002. Ms. Langton also participated in the National Health Law Moot Court Competition in 2001.
