Roberta Jacobs-Meadway is a Member of the firm in the Litigation Division. She focuses her practice on trademarks, trade dress, and unfair competition issues and includes litigation in the federal courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She has served as mediator in numerous trademark and copyright disputes.Ms. Jacobs-Meadway is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as “Leaders in Their Field” in the area of intellectual property law in the 2003 through 2008 editions. She is ranked in the top tier of Intellectual Property attorneys in the state of Pennsylvania and is referred to as “the preeminent trademark attorney in Pennsylvania.” The publication also wrote “According to interviewees ‘no one in the city knows more about copyright’ than Roberta Jacobs-Meadway.” She’s also been honored by Law & Politics Magazine and Philadelphia Magazine as among “The Top 50 Women Pennsylvania Super Lawyers” and has also been recognized as one of Pennsylvania's Super Lawyers® each year from 2004 to 2008, ranking among the top five percent of attorneys practicing in the state. Law Business Research Ltd. named her to The International Who’s Who of Trademark Lawyers. Ms. Jacobs-Meadway has been named among The Best Lawyers in America® 2009 in the area of Intellectual Property Law.
Prior to joining Eckert Seamans, Ms. Jacobs-Meadway was a partner at a Philadelphia-based national law firm. She was also one of the founding partners of Panitch Schwarze Jacobs & Nadel, P.C., where she chaired the firm’s trademark and copyright practice.
Ms. Jacobs-Meadway has written and lectured extensively on intellectual property law. For 10 years, she co-chaired ALI-ABA’s annual program on Trademark and Copyrights for the General Practitioner and for the last five years has co-chaired ALI-ABA’s annual program on Litigating Trademark and Unfair Competition Cases, in addition to its Licensing of Intellectual Property program for the past four years. She also is co-chair of the ALI-ABA course, Internet Law for the Practical Lawyer, and serves on the advisory board of ALI-ABA for intellectual property programs. Ms. Jacobs-Meadway has also contributed chapters on surveys and on damages in copyright cases to Matthew Bender’s treatise Intellectual Property Counseling and Litigation. Ms. Jacobs-Meadway is also a contributing author to the World Copyright Law Report.
Ms. Jacobs-Meadway is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar associations; the American Law Institute; the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association; and the International Trademark Association. She is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Federal Legislation Committee, and on the board of the InterAct Theater Company.
