Dorothy A. Davis is a Member in the Litigation Division. 

Ms. Davis concentrates her practice on commercial, business and real estate litigation and transactions, focusing in the areas of shareholder, officer and director, fiduciary duty, lender liability, mortgage backed securitizations, real estate, leasing, truth in lending, consumer finance, fair credit reporting, identity theft, bankruptcy, contested foreclosures, contracts, professional liability defense, insurance risk allocation and loss prevention, collections and workouts, toxic tort, wage and restrictive covenants, construction and transportation related litigation.  Her broad litigation and counseling experience in representing Fortune 100 corporations, mid-market companies, financial institutions, and high net-worth individuals with their personal investments and estates, enables her to bring a unique and practical problem solving perspective to a range of legal challenges and opportunities.

Ms. Davis is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Glass Center, Allegheny County Library Association and the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild Corporation and Chair of its Strategic Planning Committee as well as the Angel Ridge Animal Rescue.  Ms. Davis served as a previous member of the boards of The Wesley Institute, Neighborhood Legal Services, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s New Leadership Board and the Girl Scouts of Southwestern Pennsylvania.  Ms. Davis received the YWCA of greater Pittsburgh 2005 A Tribute To Women award in the Professional Services category.  She has received the Carlow College Woman of Spirit Award and the Carlow College Alumni Association Service Award.

Prior to private practice, Ms. Davis was an attorney with United States Steel Corporation representing its corporate finance group, realty division, energy, purchasing and transportation departments, and the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad and its thirteen consolidated railroads and dock companies.

Representative experience:

• Counsel for nationwide mortgage lenders and servicers for lender liability, contested foreclosures and bankruptcy litigation.
• Counsel in multi-billion dollar corporate control litigation.
• Counsel in a successful $75 million minority shareholder litigation.
• National coordinating counsel for litigation, claims and warranties for an international roof manufacturer throughout the United States.
• Counsel to various high net worth individuals and their families in private entities in real estate development transactions; litigation; family foundation and trust issues, and the acquisition and divestiture of private companies.
• Counsel in class action securities fraud and toxic tort litigation.
• Counsel for a $32 million divestiture of the assets of a metal and fiberglass reinforced grading product division of a publicly-held corporation.

Ms. Davis received her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Carlow College.  She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Florida.  Ms. Davis holds an AV^® rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
