At Eckert Seamans, each attorney is more than a timekeeper. The firm recognizes the importance of providing opportunities for professional development that benefit the individual attorney and, consequently, the firm, its clients and the communities where we live and work. Much of the training of associates takes place in day-to-day interaction with the more experienced attorneys in the firm. In addition, the firm conducts formal and informal training sessions through lunch and learn programs, in-house CLE, practice group meetings and practice specific CLE sponsored by approved providers.
The firm's Mentor Program is an integral part of the firm's commitment to the professional development of associates. Each associate is assigned a member (partner) mentor. The mentor provides guidance and assistance with a wide range of issues, including daily activities such as working with support staff and maintaining files to more substantive areas such as reviewing written work product, practicing oral advocacy and providing opportunities to observe and participate in client meetings and court proceedings.
Eckert Seamans believes that it is important for all of our attorneys to be challenged personally and professionally. To that end, our attorneys are encouraged to seek out challenging work assignments; are provided opportunities to work on complicated matters; and are encouraged to supplement their practices with pro bono activities, civic involvement and involvement in firm administration. All of these activities are important for an attorney's development and training and result in a well-rounded firm contributor.
